Deeply invested in its community, one client family has always prioritized volunteerism and philanthropy. However, as the children entered their teenage years the family began to seek ways to amplify their impact. Their goal shifted towards engaging with fewer organizations at a deeper, more meaningful level, focusing on making more significant and strategic gifts through their donor-advised fund.
To achieve this, the family embarked on the Generosity Blueprint process, a comprehensive approach designed to help clients discover shared values and passions. Through this process, they identified two core priorities for their philanthropy: providing underprivileged students in the Atlanta area with access to extracurricular activities and academic assistance, and supporting students in need at their respective alma maters.
As part of her work with the family in guiding their generosity plan, Philanthropic Advisor Elizabeth Burdette researched and collaborated closely with nonprofits that aligned with their goals. They formed a partnership with the Veritas Debate Institute (formerly Harvard Debate Club Diversity Project), a program dedicated to promoting diversity in competitive debate. Through this initiative, they provided financial support and mentorship, helping nurture the next generation of critical thinkers and leaders.
In addition to their work with the debate institute, the family established targeted, restricted endowment funds at each of their alma maters. These funds were carefully designed to support students who mirrored their values and experiences, helping their gifts make a lasting, positive impact on future generations.
